ABOUT

DVDdotcom is still thriving as part of the original movie and TV delivery side of Netflix – but most people don't know it. In an effort to remind people that the service still exists, and that DVDdotcom has the largest selection of titles for rent on DVD/Blu-ray – and that they haven't lost their edge or sense of humor – we created a Facebook social campaign in the hopes it would aid in this effort.

The hero at the center of the DVDdotcom story is still their signature red envelopes. We knew that the hook needed to tie back to this, but in a clever and Halloween-appropriate way. We created a short video to tell the story, and supported it with social tiles and posts for Instagram, Twitter and Facebook, as well as a "Behind-the-scenes" video created on Snapchat.

This DVDdotcom first-ever viral campaign launched on October 17, 2016. In just 2 weeks, the video went viral, getting over 163K views on Facebook, almost 1000 Likes, over 200 shares and 65 comments. It was also the debut of their new hashtag #DVDme, which gained 4.6M impressions and reached half a million Twitter users in the same timeframe. Even better, the number of trial memberships attributable to the campaign equated to additional revenue equaling 4x ROI.
