ABOUT

We worked on this fun campaign with Harrison & Star. It’s for an unbranded liver cancer awareness campaign featuring four diverse, relatable patient types engaging in healthy activities, emphasizing the message, "What's good for you is good for your liver." The simple character animations added comfort and accessibility, while realistic 3D scenes, lighting, and textures achieved a hyperreal finish. After nearly two years, we are proud of the well-received, heartwarming character animations.

Simple character animation brings comfort and accessibility to the subject matter. We worked with the client to develop our hero characters, a diverse cast of adults in their 50s and 60s, and bring unique personalities to each character; hoping that the audience will easily see themselves in the group. We showed each character spending time with loved ones and caregivers, or doing healthy activities on their own.

Each character and environment was developed as sketches for us to explore look, props, and environments. Once finalized, we moved into 3D to create scenes with realistic fabrics and textures for a hyperreal finish. The environments were built to scale, rather than miniature. The monochromatic styling brings a modern feel. Realistic lighting (lifelike shadows, reflections) evokes a feeling that we're on set with the characters.

The scenes were rendered in full, realistic color. Each set was delivered with plenty of negative space around the vignette, so the assets can be used in a modular fashion, mixed and matched across various channels with ease. The client was loving the work throughout the process. After almost two years since the project came across our desks, we're so pleased to see this final product of sweet character animations.
