ABOUT

Our brand new flagship hotel at Heathrow Terminal 4 is accessed from the airport via a very long, featureless walkway. Not a great start (or end) to a guest's stay with us. We wanted to change that with a low-cost, high-impact solution that turned the long walk into an engaging, positive and memorable experience. We also wanted it to have as little carbon footprint as possible so massive video walls or interactive sensory surfaces were definitely out of the question.

So we just played with what we had - we used the natural light filtering through 34 propylene panels to light up the tunnel in a kaleidoscope of colour. Pulling from our brand palette, we created a gradient of colour that gets cooler and calmer the closer you get to the hotel. Conversely, it gets warmer and livelier as you walk towards the airport. This not only added an immersive splash to our guest's journey but also helped get them in the mood for a great sleep in one direction and a great day in the other.

And how they loved it. From 'relaxing and calm' to 'helpful and inviting', the reactions to our light-filled installation have been everything we hoped for and more.
