About me

Leigh Sachwitz, an Experience Designer, International Creative Director, and the visionary founder of the esteemed design studio flora&faunavisions (FFV), has indelibly shaped the landscape of immersive experiences.
Born and raised in Scotland, Sachwitz embarked on her creative journey after completing her architectural studies at the prestigious Glasgow School of Art in 1993. Drawn by the artistic and experimental atmosphere of Berlin during the 1990s, she made the bold decision to relocate, setting the stage for a career defined by innovation and boundary-pushing creativity. In the vibrant underground scene of Berlin, Sachwitz seamlessly balanced her daytime work in architecture with the creation of makeshift clubs, bars, and art spaces at night. This formative period allowed her to hone her skills in blending various elements such as materials, lights, and projections to craft evocative environments that captivated visitors, artists, and nightlife enthusiasts alike.

In 1998, Sachwitz crystallized her creative vision by establishing flora&faunavisions (FFV), laying the foundation for a journey marked by relentless innovation and artistic exploration. Initially focused on slide installations, FFV quickly embraced emerging technologies, transitioning from Super-8 film and VHS tape to cutting-edge mediums like DVDs, laptops, and immersive 360-degree projections. Remaining at the forefront of the industry, Sachwitz led FFV in exploring new frontiers such as live 3D mapping, choreographed visuals, and GPS motion tracking, continually pushing the boundaries of what was possible in the realm of experiential design. Through her unwavering dedication and the collective talents of her team, Sachwitz spearheaded numerous groundbreaking projects, from collaborations with renowned brands to artistic interventions that challenged conventional notions of space and perception.

Notable among Sachwitz's achievements is her role as Digital Content Designer for groundbreaking projects like the world's first Digital Ring Cycle opera, premiered at Opera Australia in December 2023. The portfolio of flora&faunavisions reflects Sachwitz's passion for immersive storytelling and transformative design. From inviting you to see the world through the eyes of the visionary polymath, Leonardo da Vinci, in "Genius," to curating the interactive exhibition "Olympus Perspective Playground" that captivated audiences across ten countries, FFV has consistently pushed the boundaries of design. In 2021, the agency unveiled the immersive sensations of "Magenta Moon Garden" and the spatial musical production, "Dragon Spring Phoenix Rise," premiered at The Shed in New York City, leaving an indelible mark on the cultural landscape. "Insideout," which opened its doors in March 2023 in Seattle and is part of the permanent collection at the WNDR Museum, showcases flora&faunavisions commitment to transforming spaces into immersive works of art as well. Another exciting and recent project launched in December 2023: "Revolution Earth" at the Discovery Museum in the Netherlands is a permanent, family-focused, interactive experience addressing climate crisis and sustainability in a playful and engaging way.
Additionally, collaborations with electronic music luminaries such as Solomun, Paul Kalkbrenner and WhoMadeWho have ignited audiences worldwide through our innovative stage, lighting and festival designs.
