#MemberSpotlight on Illustrator Athanasia-Danae

How did you get into the industry?

My MA degree was the catalyst to fall in love with art and design. My project was about a fashion app and I had to do all the designs from branding to UX and UI. After my graduation I wanted to combine Marketing with Graphic design in my career and I did it.

I gained valuable experience as a marketer and graphic designer and after a few years I decided to focus only on graphics and design and I experimented with various softwares and techniques to develop my skills.

Where are you based now and who do you work for?

I am based in Thessaloniki, Greece. These days I work on passion projects and I am open to new projects and creative collaborations.

If you weren’t in your current industry, what would you be doing?

I love research and I am interested in spiritual and philosophical concepts / theories and creative arts. So maybe I would combine them in order to communicate ideas through something artistic.

Can you explain your creative process? What makes it unique?

My creative process is based on research, self-exploration and inner visions. I like to express my deep feelings and thoughts through designs, creating in that way cute, romantic, harmonious things for a more peaceful and joyful world.

How would you describe your style?

I would say aesthetic, dreamy, romantic, minimal and bohemian.

Which individuals do you gain inspiration from? Do you have any heroes in the industry?

I get inspiration from various areas like fashion, movies, interior design and architecture. I am inspired by people whose work is related to surrealism, spirituality, vintage, retro, tropical and bohemian aesthetic, dreamy ethereal worlds, fantasy and romanticism.

Although I don’t have a specific hero, I think heroes are all those who see the light within them and they don’t hesitate to express their inner self, the power of imagination and creativity combined with love that they carry inside them.

What tips would you give to aspiring creatives looking for work?

To connect with their soul and create things that will light up this world. We need visual storytellers with a mission to give solutions to complex problems that humanity faces today. We need designers who can envision a sustainable future where humans are aligned with higher states of consciousness and start communicating that kind of ideas and concepts through their work.

Stories that communicate the true meaning of life. Pure love, empathy, sensitivity, balance, virtues, sustainability, harmony, peace, bravery and heroism are qualities that humans are called to develop nowadays. I think with these qualities we will have a better relationship with our inner world as well as with the outside world.

To do that creatives need to be connected to their heart. It’s our imagination and creativity that can transform this world for the better.

What tips would you give to other professionals to get more clients?

To have a purpose, a vision and to share it with the right audience. To give as much value as possible.

What kind of tools/kit/software could you not do without?

I love anything that gives me the chance to create. Procreate, Adobe software or alternatives, Blender and Canva. I like to experiment with different tools and softwares and I am open to learning new techniques in this area.

What’s your secret to staying inspired and motivated?

Searching and learning new things. Being connected to my heart and expressing my visions through my passions.

What’s the work achievement you’re most proud of?

The positive impact on people. It’s great to bring harmony into their lives and inspire them to create pretty things too.

What is the one thing that you would change about the industry?

I think we need more visual stories that can heal people’s souls and speak about our true nature. Designs to bring peace, harmony, romance, tranquillity and true meaning into our lives.

*

We need to create visuals that can inspire people to expand their consciousness and also to inspire them to live spiritually connected to Divine / Source / God. In that way we may encourage people to create experiences and things that bring enlightenment in every field of human nature.

Also, I think we need more innovation in collaborations with various industries that can communicate these visual ideas and create in that way a more sustainable way of living.

Any websites, books or resources you would recommend?

I would say anything that contains the knowledge sharing and aesthetics of spiritual, sustainable, creative, imaginative, fantasy ideas, philosophies and concepts for a dreamy world.
