About me
I'm a UK based illustrator and writer of non-fiction (philosophy) and fiction (sci-fi).
I've been a freelance illustrator since around 2003, starting out specialising in editorial and book illustration. I have always been drawn to figurative stuff, often with an element of humour and exaggeration - for about 10 years I supplied caricatures for The Philosophers' Magazine. I'm also a freelancer on Reedsy, where I provide book covers, interior book design, formatting and illustration.
Selected illustration clients include:
Barnardo's, Carnegie Mellon University, Reaktion Books, Octopus Books, Hudson Street Press, W. W. Norton, Oxford University Press, The Philosophers' Magazine, Palgrave Macmillan, Wiley-Blackwell, Hasbro (Trivial Pursuit), The Author, The Wilson Centre Quarterly.
Regarding the philosophy/non-fiction stuff, I've published 12 books to date, on various topics. I've also taught philosophy, examined it, have a PhD in the subject (on the topic of death!), written various magazine articles, and am a qualified teacher (FE).
My fiction books are mostly speculative fiction/sci-fi and are published by WoodPig Press. The Merrywhile books are a series that look at an out-of-control, uber-shady tech giant and its shady dealings. See more on my website.
